Coffee Day18th August 2008

Jim Nicholson, the Club Treasurer, hosted our Coffee Day in August and what a great day it was too! We had a good turn out and it was nice to catch up with some members that have been otherwise engaged recently. It was a great opportunity to practise our skills on the Jim's Yamaha Clavinova CVP 307 which is very similar to the Club's model and so expect some great playing on the Club's Clavinova in future DIY sessions!

Keyboard Workshop with John Bercich

Fourteen members enjoyed a Workshop kindly offered by John Bercich. The venue was Gordon's home on a Saturday morning. John did not focus on any particular brand of keyboards but his tuition was of a general keyboard playing techniques format. Everybody felt that the Workshop was really helpful and went away with some 'knowledge takeaways'.

Wow, August Club Night had it all: great arrival music (thanks John); a variety of Club members playing the organ and Clavinova; overseas visitors playing for us (all the way from Japan!); and to top-it all, a fantastic variety concert staged by the "Silver Swingers" - see more commentary and pix below.

Club Night 5th August 2008 with the Silver Swingers

The "Silver Swingers" gave us a mini variety concert based around a theme of Gypsy Rose. What with solos, duets, and trios and not to mention recitals and song what a delightful show. Some of the members present even had some good news readings from the crystal ball! We appreciate the amount of time and effort in putting this mini concert together. So thank you Dorothy Waddel, Rob and Barbara Powell for a great concert.
