Club Night 5th June 2012

A great evening of music with lots of variety. Over 50 members and visitors packed our Club Rooms on this cold, wet and wild winters evening - we were cosy warm indoors of course! John Beales started the evening off with some slick arrival music on his Korg Pa500. John was followed by Colin Crann who played the Club's Clavinova to great effect. Next up, Ann Izzillo (a past President of the Club) came all the way from Rotorua to play for us on her superb Technics KN7000 keyboard. Then, Barbara McNab played the Clavinova for us and to finish the first half, Jan and Kevin Johnston played for us. Jan played some solos on her Korg Pa1X keyboard and then was joined by Kevin on his acoustic guitar. Great variety, great music 'guys'.
For the second-half of the evening, we were thrilled to present 'Break Thru', a South Island band who play C &W; Light Rock; and, Easy Listening music. Gavin and Phyllis Prentice (the Band), soon had us tapping our feet and clapping our hands to their great music - Gavin on acoustic guitar and Phyllis on keyboard. Their close vocal harmonies were a delight to the ear as well. All in all, another great evening and definitely worth the trek to the Club on this wild evening.

Gavin and Phyllis Prentice (Break Thru) were our guest artists for the evening and having come all the way from the South Island to entertain us! They played a variety of genres, including: C & W; Light Rock; and Easy Listening.

John Beales played the arrival music for us on his Korg Pa500. Very smooth as usual.  Colin Crann played a nice selection of songs on our Clavinova CVP-509

Ann Izzillo, a past President of the Club, came all the way from Rotorua to play for us on her superb Technics KN7000 keyboard  Barbara McNab played our Clavinova to great effect as Barbara always does.

Jan Johnston came down from Algies Bay to play for us on her lovely Korg Pa1X. Loved the steel guitar sound used on 'Sleepwalk'!  Kevin joined Jan for a few numbers to finish the first half of the programme - good stuff.
