Coffee Day 15th April 2013

One of the biggest Coffee Day crowds in a long-time made the journey to Rob and Barbara Powell's lovely home in Henderson. What a lovely day we all had with a great variety of music and instruments to be played and listened to. Lots of laughter and good banter and a wonderful lunch to boot! What more could one wish for on a dull Autumn day. Thank you Rob and Barbara for being magnificent hosts as always.

PumpHouse Theatre Concert 7th April 2013

As part of the Club's ethos, we like to 'Bring Our Music to the Community' in addition to our monthly Club Nights and Coffee Days. To this end and part of our "A Sunday Afternoon Musical Spectacular at the PumpHouse" series, we hosted a Concert for some of our senior members to show-off their wonderful musical talent to a broader audience as well as inviting along a World renowned Brass Band, The Dalewool Auckland Brass, that in days gone by went by the name of The Continental Brass Band. And what a Concert it was with Roy Steen starting the first-half on his Korg Pa80 keyboard and followed by Alan Dadson on his Yamaha Tyros 3 keyboard. After an interlude we were then thrilled with the wonderful skills and music of a sub-set of the Dalewool Auckland Brass. There was plenty of audience participation also with two ladies helping the band out with their rendition of 'The Can-Can', together with Roy Steen sportingly volunteering to come and conduct two pieces for the Dalewool Auckland Brass! Lots of fun had by one and all. A big thank you to our performers for a giving us "A Sunday Afternoon Musical Spectacular". A special thanks to Len Hancy for professionally handling the MC duties as well as members of the Committee for their ushering duties.

The stage was a little compact to fit the entire Band and so they brought a sub-set of the Band who filled the auditorium with magnificent music. The Dalewool Auckland Brass in full flight. The Dalewool Auckland Brass had an interactive section where they invited ladies to step-up for the 'Can Can' and show-off their dancing skills! Here we see our Secretary on the right, Delyse Whorwood, with an unknown member of the audience having fun and delighting the audience with their dancing skills.

Club Night 2nd April 2013

Only way to describe the evening - absolutely fabulous! A good sized audience of members and visitors were treated to some wonderful music. In the first-half by Club members and in the second-half by our Special Guest Artist, Ben Fernandez. Ben is a professional musician and his dextrous touch on the Club's Clavinova and the great variety of genres played had the audience enthralled. You can learn more about Ben from his web site: http://www.benfernandez.net/ . It was the first time we were using our new PA System which added that extra bit of clarity to the sounds and carried the sound throughout the Club Rooms very subtly. An evening to remember.

A big thank you to the Committee and door support member (Pauline Beales) for making the evening run so smoothly.
