Deryn Trainer at Atwaters 27th September 2008

Deryn Trainer gave a great mini concert at Atwaters Hobson Street, Auckland City. Deryn has just released his album "Deryn Trainer" and he played some of the terrific tracks from the album. Deryn even played requests superbly! Thanks for a wonderful concert Deryn and taking the time to share your musical development from the age of 4 years.
A big thank you to Murray Hancox of Atwaters for arranging this concert. Before the concert, Murray showed us how easy it is to download songs from the Internet straight into the 400 series Clavinovas - amazing.

Mainline Musicworks Concert 24th September 2008

Thank you Mainline Musicworks for a very enjoyable evening - not only did we have the pleasure of some lovely playing by Darren Smith on the Yamaha Clavinova CVP-409 but we learnt a lot more about the technology and how to get the amazing sounds out of these wonderful pianos. Also, I am sure our members will take good advantage of the "Keyboard Corner" where they can come in and at their leisure play one of the Clavinovas in a dedicated area. What a great way to rehearse for playing Club Clavinovas or just enjoying the moment.

We look forward to great customer service and support from your new Piano and Keyboard Department Manager, Edward Waaka - best wishes for your new assignment Edward.

Darren was using an expression foot pedal to great effect -
this is brilliant for realism with your orchestral sounds.

Mainline Musicworks launches "Yamaha Corner"

Official opening at 7.00pm Wednesday 24th September 2008 at 7.00pm with Darren Smith playing the Clavinova/keyboards! There will be refreshments provided in the form of cheese and wine. Location: Mainline Musicworks, 42 Taharoto Road, Takapuna. There is parking at the front and rear of the building.

This is a great place for our members to go and practice on a Clavinova so that they can be comfortable playing the Club's Clavinova on Club Night. With the sofa available and headphones provided for the bashful what a nice way to spend an hour or so with a friend or partner. I am sure the Mainline staff will be happy to assist you or show you other keyboards that you may be interested in.

What a wonderful day hosted by Phyl and Jack Briscoe at their lovely Mairangi Bay home. The weather was a perfect spring day and the 15 members enjoyed a variety of instruments played even a duet and jam session. Richard Hore at the Octagon "The House of the Rising Sun" - enjoy! (Streaming Video is best played with Broadband)

Richard Hore Concert 20th September 2008

Our Club was very proud to promote this wonderful Concert in conjunction with Eastern Suburbs Organ Society. A near full house of approximately eighty people (and one dog - Vicki) was at our Club Rooms at the Takapuna Bowling Club to be blown-away by Richard Hore from Christchurch in Concert on the Club’s mighty Technics GA3 organ and what a performance indeed. Richard even “tickled the ivories” superbly on our Clavinova piano. Every body left with a big smile on their face at about 10.20pm (yes, over two solid hours of sheer musical magic). Thanks to all the support members from both Clubs for making the evening such a success. A big thank you also for the promotion of the Concert by: Creative Keyboard Club; Hibiscus Organ and Keyboard Club; and the Organ Society of New Zealand Inc. Also, a big thank you to Brian Massey for assisting in moving all those chairs!
