Club Night 4th August 2026
One of our very best evenings of great music. A near full house, were delighted by our artists who all demonstrated their diverse gentes of music. We started the evening with a big screen video of one of our members giving a concert at the Club a couple of years ago. The artist was Taka Iida playing his Yamaha Electone two-manual keyboard with pedalboard. Great to watch Taka demonstrate his mastery of the instrument with superb musicianship and lovely choice of songs.
To open the evening, Mary Elvin played some great popular music from the sixty's era on our Yamaha Clavinova CVP-809 ensemble piano. Very nice Mary. Then, Peter Longbottom played some great songs with full orchestrations on his Korg Pa600 arranger keyboard. To finish the first set, Yuko Tani played some great popular songs on our Clavinova and including: Bridge Over Troubled Water; and My Way. Great songs and expertly articulated - well done Yuko!
After the raffle and refreshments break, we were thrilled to have Hana Tani as our special guest artist. Hana is in her third year of music studies at university and whilst classically trained she played a mixture of classical, jazz standards and popular music. So Hana performed pieces from Listz, Chopin, The Sound of Music and ABBA and we were spellbound with wonderful music and magnificent musicianship. Thank you, Hana, for your great concert. We have seen Hana blossom from a 9-year-old to a young lady over the last 11 years or so and such modesty for a world class artist.

Coffee Day at Fairview Lifestyle Village
It is always a pleasure to hold Coffee Days at Fairview Lifestyle Village in Albany, North Shore, Auckland, NZ. A great day was had by our members and residents alike. We had 11 members play for us using the lovely Kohler and Campbell grand piano as well as a couple of arranger keyboards. Fairview has an excellent kitchen and we certainly enjoyed partaking! A big thank you to member and resident, Diane Lyons, for arranging the booking in conjunction with Warren Levick our Events Manager. It is great to have an excellent PA System to plug the keyboards into as well as the microphones rather than using our portable systems. Thanks to our member and resident, Len Hancy, for setting-up the PA System for us.

Club Night 7th July 2026
The evening went well with Warren Levick and Patrick McMillan's inputs to a very appreciative audience. The musicians were all enjoyable in their own way. Linus Treefoot was very entertaining, giving us an overview of his younger days as a student in USA before playing "La Bamba" on his guitar with gusto, including all the trills and necessary embellishments, with a great accompaniment on the Clavinova from his friend Heather Dickson. Heather gave us a treat with her lovely soft-jazz voice singing quietly while she played a beautiful piece of music. Patrick McMillan finished the first set entertainment with a lovely selection of melodies. Warren Levick provided some pre-start entry music on the Clavinova.
Our guest artist, Paul McIssac, held the audience captive, as usual, with his wonderful ability to change great songs we all know, like "Singing in the Rain", "Girl from Ipanema", "Let it Be" and "Danny Boy" to something extraordinary. Paul uses a combination of a KorgPa3X arranger keyboard (to drive the rhythm) with a Kurzweil workstation and additional sounds from software on his laptop played real time through his Kurzweil - particularly attack instruments like guitar and piano.
As the author of his Web Site and MC/President of the Club, I was unable to attend Club Night and so I extend thanks to the additional efforts of the Committee to cover the logistics of set-up etc. A special thanks to member, Diane Lyons, for providing me with a synopsis of the evening activities.

Coffee Day at Northbridge Village
What a lovely day of music at this splendid Village. Good support from the residents and some great music by our members. We even had a resident play a song for us on the Village's Yamaha Clavinova CVP-609 "In the Mood" by Shirely.

Club Night 2nd June 2026
An amazing variety of music played on various instruments to make this a most enjoyable evening. Entry music was played by Warren Levick on our Yamaha Clavinova CVP-809 ensemble piano and most enjoyable too! Our MC for the night was Committee member, Ken Mahy. Ken did a great job to keep the music flowing and interspersed with specific artist related reminiscences together with occasional quick-fire jokes!
Our programme started with Gordon Sutherland playing four songs on his Korg Pa5X arranger keyboard. Lots of bangs and crashes from the rhythms and pads and some great pan flute sounds. Warren Levick played next on our Clavinova with some great melodies. Yvonne Moller played next on her Korg Pa3X with some lively big band songs and sounds. To finish the first set of music, we had a casual guest who played two classical pieces on our Clavinova - Liszt and Bach. Thank you Shunsuke Yoshioka for your wonderful music and musicianship. Shunsuke was celebrating his 21st Birthday on the Night to make the occasion even more memorable! It is always great to hear our state-of-the-art Clavinova digital piano played at this level of expertise - Shunsuke is in his second year at Varsity studying music.
After the raffle and refreshments break, our second set was devoted to our guest artist, Kane Steves. Kane is a long-time professional keyboardist and music teacher. He brought along his trusty Yamaha PSR 9000 arranger keyboard and boy did he make that thing talk! Great music and vocals from composers such as Billy Joel and Elvis Presley. Thank you, Kane, for sharing your great music and musicianship with us.

Coffee Day at Warren Levick's Home 20th May 2026
What a lovely day both with wonderful music and great weather and beautiful gardens to admire! Warren put on a very nice luncheon augmented by members bringing a plate. Warren has two living areas. In the front lounge he has a Yamaha Clavinova CVP-309 GP ensemble piano together with a Yamaha Electone EL70 organ. In the main living area Warren has his Yamaha Clavinova CVP-809 ensemble piano which is the same model to the one the Club owns. All three instruments were played and so it was great to hear the variety of music and styles between all three instruments.
A little disappointing with the limited member turn-out but some members were overseas at the time.

Club Night 5th May 2026
A great night of music and much enjoyed by all attending. For the arrival music, we played part of a concert given at our Club Rooms on 1st December 2020. Our special guest artist on 1st December 2020 was no less than one of New Zealand's finest pianists, Carl Doy.
In the first set we were entertained by Ian Jackson and then Warren Levick both playing the Club's Clavinova CVP-809. Great music guys. To finish the first set, we were sent on a trip down memory lane, whence Len Hancy sang songs from the 1930's through the 1960's with backing tracks. The theme was British comedians who also had great singing voices. Some artists songs played were from: Flanagan and Allen; Max Bygraves; Ken Dodd; and Morecambe and Wise.
After supper, kindly managed by Margaret Black, we were entertained by Denise Gunson on our Yamaha Clavinova CVP-809 ensemble piano. What a wonderful pianist Denise is and what a great variety of songs played. Denise's arrangements were magnificent with her crisp playing style so enjoyable.
