Coffee Day at Algies Bay 16th February 2016

What a wonderful venue for our members to socialize and enjoy great music, great food and luxurious surroundings in the sub-tropical Algies Bay - just 45 minutes north of Auckland.
Kevin had spend two days erecting two adjoining marquis to extend the garage/rumpus room. This provided lots of fresh, cool breezes and appreciated shade from the sun. We were treated to a sumptuous lunch courtesy of Jan and Kevin and contributions from our members 'plates'. Some members stayed on into the evening when we were treated to professional musicians performing whilst we ate a very delightful BBQ supper.
All in all, another wonderful day at the Johnston's beautiful home in lovely Algies Bay.

Club Night 2nd February 2016

What a wonderful way to start the new year! A near full house were treated to a great evenings entertainment; in the first half by our talented members playing (Brian Teviotdale; Gordon Sutherland; Roy Steen; and Dorothy Waddel); and then after a relaxing refreshments break our artist Joe Fingers took the stage. Joe played the Bowling Club's old piano which had probably not been played for 20 years (tuning - who cares!) as well as his Yamaha PSR-S950 arranger keyboard. For some numbers his wife, Jill, joined Joe with some wonderful vocals. Joe covered the whole gambit of genres from Bach to pop with some trad jazz and boogie woogie amongst others - simply fantastic.

As a tribute to our recently departed member, Peter Herrick, the arrivals music was taken-up with some videos of Peter playing at the Club last year. These videos are available to watch on YouTube as well.

A big thank you as always to our dedicated Committee members for organizing and running the evening to make it all go so smoothly.
