Community Music Day at Settlers Lifestyle Village, Albany – Monday 21st October 2013

Definitely  a top-drawer Coffee Day! What a full-on fantastic day of music in such splendid opulent surroundings in the main lounge to the Settlers Lifestyle Village. A good turn-out of our members and residents made for a great atmosphere and terrific music to boot. With our 'top gun' musicians playing for us we enjoyed a veritable feast of good music together with a fabulous lunch and lots of social discourse. We were even joined for a cameo performance by well known Auckland musician Ben Fernandez who played the grand piano with such aplomb.

A very big thank you to our host, Barbara McNab, who is a resident of Settlers, together with Warren who handled the condenser microphone and PA system to amplify the Yamaha C3 grand piano throughout the large lounge/dining area. We are grateful to the management of Settlers Lifestyle Village for hosting us in their beautiful Village. Hopefully, we are scheduled to return to Settlers next April for a further Community Music Day (Coffee Day) as both our members and residents seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day.

As always, a big thank you to the NSOKC Committee members for helping to run the day at the desk, selling raffle tickets and taking bookings for our upcoming PumpHouse Theatre Concert on 3rd November. It was great to have a sampler from both Ben Fernandez and our member, Takashi Iida, of the quality of music to expect them to play at the Sunday afternoon PumpHouse Theatre Concert.

Here are some video clips from the day:

Club Night 1st October 2013

Had to be one of our best evenings with a large turn-out of members and visitors and some fabulous music played by our members in the first-half and then our guest artist, Dave Hallam, in the second-half. This was the Club's 36th Birthday and so we had a lovely iced fruit cake to celebrate this auspicious occasion. Thanks to the artists this evening: Barbara McNab; Yvonne Moller; Warren Levick; Colin Crann; and, last but not least our guest artist, Dave Hallam. As always a special thank you to the Committee for organising the logistics so well and to the additional members helping out on door duties, Kuniko Nakatani, and photo duties, Dennis Lyons.
