Club Night 5th October 2010

Some evenings are just magical and our Club Night this month was one of those. Our members played great in the first half. It was good to welcome back our out-of-town professional musician member, Carole Littlejohn. Carole brought the house down with her rendition of "The Black and White Rag". Thanks for coming all the way from Papamoa to share your music Carole.

The second-half of the evening was given over to our special guest artist, Dave Hallam, who gave us a magnificent concert for the best part of an hour (that disappeared very quickly with the superb music).Dave Hallam had us enthralled with his carefully chosen songs and arrangements. Dave got through 14 numbers plus an encore!   Dave gave us a wonderful diversity of styles both on his lovely new Yamaha PSR-910 keyboard and on the Club's state-of-the-art Yamaha Clavinova CVP-509. The big screen worked very well too so that everybody in the Club Rooms got a 'birds-eye' view of the the keyboards being played.

Colin Crann kindly did the honours for the arrival music. Warren Levick played three very nice arrangements for us on the Clavinova. This photo of Warren playing in June 2010 at the Club as the photo shot on the night was unfortunately blurred. Committee Member, Ken Mahy, played four songs on his Korga Pa1X for us. Ian Jackson played some very nice gently ballads for us. John Beales played four great arrangements for us on his Korg Pa500 Carole Littlejohn played the Clavinova as well some pretty slick vocals to enhance her great arrangements. Carole Littlejohn crooning away for us on the Clavinova. Her final number of 'The Black and White Rag" was a show stopper. Dave Hallam absorbed in his playing for us on his brand new Yamaha PSR-910. Dave Hallam invited John Stent to jam with him on one of the numbers - completely impromptu - and completely enjoyable - with John's wonderful lifetime's accumulation of musical talent.                Club President, Gordon Sutherland, thanking Dave Hallam for a fantastic concert!
