Club Night 6th June 2017

A great night of music with a really good attendance to enjoy the wonderful music. Arrival music was provided by Ken Mahy on his Korg Pa1X keyboard and followed by Merv Adair on the Clavinova. Merv certainly challenged us with a play and then ask what the song or composer was. Peter Jackson then played his Yamaha PSR-S950 with added vocals. Following Peter, Julia Bissett sang for us and accompanied by Dorothy Waddel on the Clavinova. To finish the first half, Diane Lyons played her Yamaha PSR3000 with some great melodies and tempting the audience into a sing-along with some of the numbers.
In the second-half, our guest artist, Takashi Iida (Taka) brought along his two-manual keyboard with pedalboard. Taka played 11 songs for us with a great variety of genres - wonderful music and wonderful musicianship.
A big thank you to the Committee and members who helped with kitchen/desk duties.

What a lovely day spent making music and conversation at the Fairview Lifestyle Village, Fairview. Sumptuous surroundings were a great backdrop to a wonderful day of music with a mixture of keyboards and grand piano played by enthusiastic residents and our Club members. A big thank you to our door staff for the raffle, Margaret Black, Delyse Whorwood and Diane Lyons. Club Night 2nd May 2017

A near full-house audience were treated to a terrific variety of music both from our members in the first-half and then by our guest artists, Darren Smith and Daniel Rashtan - both from Music Works.
Ron Clingin got the show on the road with the arrival music played on his Korg Pa80. Ron was followed by Linus Treefoot on his 76 note Casio keyboard. Ian Jackson followed playing piano style on the Club's Clavinova CVP-509 and followed by Rod Moffat on Korg Pa4X (76 note) with Nelleke Moffat on vocals. What a terrific first-half!
After a refreshing tea break, we were ready to be thrilled by the wonderful light jazz classics performed by our artists, Darren Smith on Clavinova and Music Works colleague, Daniel Rashtan on his tenor sax. Some great music and inter-play between the two of them and including an original song composed for the evening tentative named "Gordon's Folly" - nothing to do with your President, Gordon Sutherland, surely!
It is great to have additional support from members for the preparation and close of the evening to keep the wheels moving along smoothly and spreading the work load.
All in all, a great night of music, laughter and camaraderie from our little fraternity of music lovers.
